Trophy hunts in Ohio: outfitters and guides
Trophy hunts are sold on animal quality rather than just opportunity. Ask how the outfit defines a trophy, what its standards are, and be wary of guarantees.

Outfitter and guide licensing in Ohio
No public single-business license lookup
Licensing body: Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife. Agency to ask:ODNR Division of Wildlife Hunt PrOH list.
- The ODNR Division of Wildlife's Hunt PrOH list (updated Sept. 4, 2025) describes Hunt PrOH as "a voluntary accreditation program" run with outfitters, and lists the accredited businesses. That list shows voluntary accreditation, not a license. We found no public lookup of a state outfitter or guide license; ask the Division of Wildlife (1-800-WILDLIFE, on the same list) what applies. Not a legal conclusion: the official pages cited above do not offer a public lookup of a single outfitter's license, so we cannot check one for you. Ask the agency to confirm what an outfit holds before you pay.
State wildlife agency: Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife (link checked October 23, 2026). Ohio rules change: check with the agency before booking a hunt or operating as a guide.
